Hit-and-run compensation for victims of accident cases hiked in K’taka

Bengaluru: The State Government has ordered an increase in compensation to the injured or family members of the deceased in ‘Hit-and- Run’ accident cases (C-Report) across Karnataka. From April 1, the new compensation rates will come into effect.

The State Government increased compensation to victims based on guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in February 2022.

According to a circular issued to all police officers by Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) Praveen Sood, compensation for injuries has been increased from Rs. 12,500 to Rs. 50,000, while compensation for death has been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 2 lakh.
