Bengaluru: The criteria for nominating MLCs to the State Legislative Council has been diluted over the years. Seats reserved for different fields are being given to politicians who have lost elections, said Legislative Council Chairperson Basavaraj Horatti.
Addressing mediapersons on Saturday February 12, Horatti said that due to such a trend the Upper House is facing too much of criticism. To honour the House, the people from field to which seats are reserved should adorn that seat,” he observed.
He also expressed his displeasure on how the mandate for conducting 60-day legislature sessions annually is not currently practiced.
