Bengaluru: India’s longest railroad bridge, Assam’s Bogibeel Bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. While the entire nation has been basking over India getting its only fully welded bridge for which european codes and welding standards were adhered to for the first time in the country, former prime minister HD Devegowda, who had laid the foundation for the project seems to be unhappy.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, in Bengaluru, HDD expressed his disappointment over not having been invited for the event. “Who remembers the work I have done, ” Gowda questioned.
“Kashmir railway, Delhi Metro were approved by me and the funds were released during my tenure as prime minister. Today nobody seems to even remember all of that and more, ” he said adding that he laid the foundation for Bogibeel in 1997.
When questioned about the delay in the project, HDD said that it was a different issue all together.
“I completed Hasan-Mysuru project in 13 months. Anagavadi bridge is one of the many bridges that I completed way before deadline. All those who have forgotten me and all those who say I have done nothing must at least visit Anagavadi bridge one,” he said.
