I-T dept shocks LS candidates with raids on their close aides’ residences a day ahead

Bengaluru: The Lok Sabha constituency candidates are busy with their door-to-door campaign as the state’s phase II election will be held tomorrow, i.e., on Tuesday, Aprill 23. Amid the election heat, the Income Tax department has given a shock to the candidates by conducting raids at the residences of their close associates. The I-T officials are conducting raids on a suspicion that the candidates might have arranged for huge amounts of cash to lure the electorates.

The I-T officials have conducted a series of raids in different parts of the state. The officials have seized Rs 2 Lakh cash from Zilla Panchayat member Sandeep Nayak’s residence in Krishna Made House Apartment, at Lingasuru road in Raichur.

The officials have also raided the residences of the close aides of Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress leaders. Congress party legislator Nagendra’s relative Yariswamy’s residence has been raided. B Sriramulu’s close associate Raju’s residence has also been raided. Meanwhile, the Excise Department has raided Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Vice-President Suryanarayan Reddy’s office.

The Goa and Belagavi I-T department conducted a raid at the residence of Suresh Angadi’s son-in-law Shankargowda Patil, last night. Officials have seized gold and Rs 2 Lakh cash in Shankargowda Patil’s K K Koppa residence in Belagavi. Meanwhile, a car carrying around Rs 14 Lakh cash has been seized by the officials in Belagavi city. Srikanth Munavalli who was in the car has been detained.
