Bengaluru: Senior IAS officer Anjum Parvez has left for Colombo to coordinate with the Kannadiga tourists who have been stuck in Colombo and other parts of Sri Lanka after the bombing on April 21.
According to sources, Parvez has been asked to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Colombo to finalising the formalities and bring the mortal remains of the Kannadigas who died in the serial blasts. He has also been asked to make arrangements to bring the Kannadiga tourists who are stranded in various parts of the island nation.
Sources also said that around 30 tourists from across the state, including 14 from Mysuru, are stranded in Sri Lanka. Due to the curfew, they are unable to travel to the Colombo International Airport to catch flights to India.
Meanwhile, Yelahanka MLA Vishwanatha S R, JDS MLC E Krishnappa and others have arrived in Colombo to help their relatives who were injured in the serial blasts.
HDD speaks to Sushma Swaraj
Former prime minister, JDS supremo H D Devegowda spoke to Union foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj about the Colombo serial bomb blasts and the death of the Kannadigas. He requested her to direct the Indian Embassy authorities in Colombo to expedite the formalities to send the mortal remains of the deceased back home. He also requested her to arrange for special care in the hospitals for the injured.
