An Infosys staffer in Bengaluru has been detained for allegedly capturing obscene videos of female colleagues inside a restroom at the company’s Electronic City campus.

The accused, 28-year-old Swapnil Nagesh Mali from Andhra Pradesh, was exposed on June 30 when a woman noticed a phone’s reflection on the restroom door. Investigating further, she discovered Mali concealed nearby, attempting to record her. When confronted, he reportedly apologized immediately.

Infosys HR intervened and inspected his phone, reportedly uncovering over 30 videos of women filmed in similar circumstances. Despite the gravity of the offense, management initially tried to resolve the matter internally by seeking an apology from the accused.

The issue intensified when the victim’s husband demanded formal action. The woman subsequently filed a complaint with the Electronic City police. Based on her report, authorities arrested Mali, and further investigation is ongoing.

Infosys issued a statement confirming the incident and stating that the employee has been terminated. The company said it assisted the victim in promptly filing a police complaint and is fully cooperating with law enforcement.

“Infosys is committed to a harassment-free workplace and has zero tolerance for such conduct,” the statement emphasized.

In a related case from May, a Bengaluru Metro commuter was arrested for filming women and sharing the videos on Instagram. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) called it “an act of perversion” and confirmed the man was taken into custody for recording without consent.
