Bengaluru: According to the India Skills Report 2016 (ISR 2016), Karnataka is found to be the second most preferred job destination, also where employers would like to hire from. Andhra Pradesh leads with 50.23 per cent male employable resources and 70.26 per cent female employable resource.

The report states that 41.25 per cent of the test takers in Karnataka in the 18- to 21-year age group were found to be employable. Last year, Karnataka was not part of the employable pool and it had risen to the third position this year.

“Candidates from Karnataka scored high on numerical and logical aptitude. While the national data for both male and female employable resource has risen, Karnataka, with 25 per cent, has more male employable resource,” the report says.

According to the report, candidates in Karnataka prefer salary over Rs 2.6 lakh.

According to ISR 2016 report, the maximum hiring activity can be seen in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana respectively.

Karnataka is expected to be the hub for BFSI, BPO/KPO/ITES, consumer services, pharma and healthcare, retail, e-commerce, transport and logistics, telecom and IT hiring.

The study is an initiative by Wheebox (a global talent assessment company) in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry, LinkedIn, PeopleStrong and Association of Indian Universities.

The results are part of Wheebox Employability Skill Test (WEST) that assessed about half-a-million candidates across 5,000 educational campuses in 29 states and seven Union Territories on employability parameters, including numerical and logical ability, communication skills and domain knowledge.
