The Karnataka State Department of Food Safety and Drug Control has prohibited the sale and use of 15 pharmaceutical and cosmetic products after laboratory tests deemed them unsafe for public consumption. The directive, issued under the state Health Department, followed sample analysis conducted in May 2025.

Among the banned items is Pomol-650, a widely used paracetamol tablet produced by Aban Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. in Mysuru. Another product included in the ban is O Shanti Gold Class Kumkum, manufactured by N Ranga Rao & Sons Pvt. Ltd., also based in Mysuru.

The list further comprises various medicines and solutions used for human and veterinary purposes. Some of the notable products are Compound Sodium Lactate Injection IP by Ultra Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. and Tom Bron Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Mitu Q7 Syrup from Bion Therapeutics, Pantocot-DSR capsules by Svefn Pharmaceuticals, and Sodium Chloride Injection IP 0.9% w/v by Puniska Injectables Pvt. Ltd.

Veterinary products such as sterile diluents for poultry vaccines from Safe Parenterals Pvt. Ltd. were also declared unfit, alongside other formulations like Glimiz-2 (glimepiride tablets), Iron Sucrose Injection branded as Irogain, and Pyracid-O Suspension.

The department instructed pharmacies, healthcare professionals, and the general public to immediately stop the sale, distribution, and use of all the listed products. Officials emphasized that these measures are necessary to protect consumer health and prevent potential risks linked to unsafe formulations.
