Bengaluru: The Karnataka cabinet has given the green light for an amendment that requires businesses, industries, hospitals, and institutions to have 60% Kannada on their signboards and nameplates. This move aims to promote the use of the Kannada language in public spaces.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved a one-time increase in the upper age limit by three years for candidates taking competitive exams conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission. This adjustment is meant to fill vacant positions according to the Karnataka Gazetted Probationers Rule-1997.
A significant development is the approval of the ₹45 crore Chamundeshwari Temple Development Scheme under the Central government’s Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (Prasad). This initiative will enhance the infrastructure and facilities at the Chamundeshwari Temple.
Moreover, the cabinet has decided to waive off ₹581.47 crore worth of Motor Vehicle Tax owed by state-owned transport corporations, providing relief to these entities.
In a move to enhance Bengaluru’s development, the cabinet has given the green light to 43 development works totaling ₹800 crore. These projects, to be executed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), aim to improve various aspects of the city’s infrastructure.
