Bengaluru: The Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Lawyers Act-2023 has been enacted by the state government to protect lawyers from assault and harassment. The act, which came into force on June 10, prohibits any form of violence against advocates while they are performing their professional duties.

Offenders who commit assault or violence against lawyers can face imprisonment for a period ranging from 6 months to 3 years, along with a fine of up to Rs.1 lakh. The act aims to ensure the safety and security of lawyers in the state.
