Bengaluru: The Karnataka state government is reportedly planning to introduce a bill aimed at curbing the spread of fake news, deep fakes, and derogatory posts on social media. The draft of the bill has been prepared by the home department in coordination with the IT department.
Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara stated that the government is serious about addressing the dissemination of falsehoods on social media, and the bill is likely to be tabled during the winter joint session of the legislature starting on December 4. The legislation is expected to contribute to efforts to maintain the integrity of information on social media platforms.
