Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered a fresh survey and postponed the hearing until February 9, seeking a “clear report from an independent authority.” The Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban District has been instructed to assign the deputy director of land records and a technical team to investigate whether the Sri Sallapuradamma Temple in Hegganahalli Main Road, Sunkadakatte village, Bengaluru, has encroached upon the road or if the road was constructed around the temple.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale and Justice Krishna S Dixit, addressed a petition alleging illegal encroachment by the temple, which reportedly blocked the road. Upon reviewing a photograph, the high court observed that the temple appeared to be situated in the middle of the road.

Previously, on March 8, 2021, the high court directed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to send an officer to the site for an assessment and to file a report. However, in the recent order on Thursday, the high court criticized the BBMP’s affidavit as “ambiguous” and accused it of attempting to create confusion.
