Bengaluru: The Karnataka government‘s Yuva Nidhi scheme, a Congress poll promise, is set to be launched in the second week of January, according to Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Minister Sharan Prakash Patil. Approximately five lakh graduates and diploma holders will qualify for the unemployment allowance initiative implemented by the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Department.
Under Yuva Nidhi, unemployed graduates will receive Rs 3,000 per month, while unemployed diploma holders will get Rs 1,500 per month for two years, provided they remain unemployed. The benefits will be discontinued if they secure employment.
Starting from the second week of January, all beneficiaries will begin receiving funds in their accounts, as announced by Patil during the Winter Session of the Legislative Assembly. Registration for the scheme is scheduled to commence in the last week of December, with the earlier launch date by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on December 21 now postponed by a few days.
Patil stated that the budgetary allocation for the current financial year is Rs 250 crore, and this will increase to Rs 1,500 crore for the 2023-24 fiscal year and Rs 2,500 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
