Bengaluru: Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, on Monday blamed BJP leaders for trying to divide armed forces in the country.
Speaking at a function organised to pay floral tributes to Indira Gandhi on her 32nd death anniversary at Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office here, Mallikarjun Kharge expressed shock over the BJP leaders competing among themselves to organise functions and shower praises on soldiers. “Why had they forgotten our soldiers all these days? We are proud of our soldiers. Instead of allowing armed forces to get the credits for surgical attacks on terror camps along the Line of Control (LoC), BJP leaders are staking claim on it,” Kharge said.
Coming down heavily on BJP and RSS leaders for opposing the state government’s decision to organise Tipu Sultan Jayanti, Kharge opined that there should be no discrimination against the leaders who fought for the freedom of the country. “We should not discriminate the leaders based on caste or creed,” Kharge said.
He said the BJP leaders have been busy in remembering Dr B R Ambedkar of late. “These leaders used to hesitate to even put up Dr B R Ambedkar’s portrait in their office. Now, they are competing with everybody in showering praises on Dr Ambedkar. They are trying to politicise each and every issue in the country,” he remarked.
