Bengaluru: The Assembly session on the detailed discussion of ‘Operation Lotus’ audio tape released by Chief Minister Kumaraswamy, began here on Monday, February 11 on an emotional note.
With the name of Speaker Ramesh Kumar being heard in the audio tape row and allegations being levelled against him of accepting a kickback of Rs 50 crore, an emotional speaker questioned where he can store such huge amount when he himself has been living in a rented house!
“I have been living in a rented house and have been leading a simple life. Who has given me this Rs 50 cr and how has this been given to me? Why am I being made to face this situation? I have reached this position because of my honesty. I have not even put up a board outside my house which says I hold this responsible position,” he said.
“My mom had taught me that if we visit somebody’s house, we should not carry anything out of that house, not even the dust,” he said remembering his mother, whom he called as his first ‘political Guru’. The Speaker went on to add that the current political scenario needs a lot of cleaning and also opined that ‘character assassination’ was worst than brutal murder.
The debate began between Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Madhu Swamy and Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Krishna Byre Gowda.
