Kolar: The Kempegowda Rathayatre, which reached K.G. Halli in Tekal Hobli in the District to collect sacred soil for the construction of a theme park at the Kempegowda International Airport premises, turned out to be meaningless after a scuffle broke out between the two factions of the BJP.
In the wake of a group of BJP members insisting that the Kempegowda Rathayatre should be taken out with poornakumbha welcome as directed by the Government and the District Administration, Former MLA K. S. Manjunath Gowda and activists supporting Hudi Vijay Kumar were engaged in a verbal spat.
Later MP S. Muniswamy and the police intervened. When the rathayatre from Bangarpete to Parshaganahalli reached K.G. Halli Village, supporters of BJP’s Hudi Vijay Kumar and R. Prabhakar insisted that the rathayatre should not go as the women carrying poornakumbha kalasha did not turn up to welcome the chariot.
MP S Muniswamy said that the event was already delayed and hence urged for procession to move forward. Despite being persuaded to take out the rathayatre in the Taluk, the supporters of Hudi Vijay Kumar did not allow the chariot to move ahead. Former MLA K. S.Manjunath Gowda arrived and said that Kempegowda Rathayatre has already delayed in the Taluk. “We should give a grand welcome to the Rathayatre irrespective of party affiliations and it is not right to disrupt the rathayatre,” he said.
By then, a verbal duel broke out between supporters on both sides and an argument broke out. The police intervened and persuaded the two factions to proceed to the place allotted by the Taluk Administration.
