Kolar: Students of Bangalore North University staged a protest by blocking the Kolar – Malur Road alleging that the buses are not being stopped near the Postgraduate Centre of Bangalore North University at Mangasandra on the outskirts of the City.

Though hundreds of transport corporation buses ply on the road from Kolar to Hosur City in Tamil Nadu via Malur on a daily basis, the buses are not stopped at the bus stand of the Bangalore North University PG Centre near Mangasandra on the same road.

Express buses nor Hosur buses stop near Bangalore North University. Even at 7.30 pm, the students still will be waiting at the University Gate. This has caused problems to the students.

“We are fighting mainly because the girls are facing a lot of trouble and unable to attend classes the next day. We will not stop till a solution is found to our problem,” the protesting students said.

Kolar Transport Corporation representatives said that students don’t take tickets, and everyone shows the student pass, that’s why they don’t stop the bus. Students can’t travel using pass in express buses. The students alleged that this was a fraud statement being given by them.

Thousands of commuters on their way to Malur and Hosur in neighbouring Tamil Nadu were affected by the protests. There was a traffic jam of around 3 to 4 kms as a large number of students sat on a dharna on the main road.
