Bengaluru: The state government’s programme of distributing LED bulbs at subsidised price will be launched without any glitches on December 11. The code of conduct in force for the forthcoming Council polls will not play the spoilsport.
The state government had obtained permission from the Election Commission to launch the programme as it was announced much before the poll dates were notified, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar said here on Thursday. Under the scheme being worked out by the Energy Department, 10 LED bulbs of 9 Volts each (Rs 90 to Rs 100 for each bulb) will be provided to all domestic consumers and the amount will be recovered (Rs 10 each) from their monthly electricity bill. The current open market retail price of a LED bulb is in over Rs 300.
