Bengaluru: The dynamic youth organizer and social activist, Bahrain based Non-Resident-Indian Leeladhar Baikampady received the prestigious Samaja Ratna national award for the year 2015, conferred by Jnana Mandara educational and cultural academy in Bengaluru recently.
Baikampady received the award in the presence of senior AICC member Shashikala V Kavali and other dignitaries at the Bengaluru Herambha hotel auditorium. He was supposed to receive the award in January in Malaysia but due to his absence it was conferred to him in Bengaluru.
He has been conferred with the Rashtriya Bhushan and Rashtriya Yekatha awards and the Samaja Ratna is a third national award received by him. He is the first non-resident Indian to receive three national awards in a year.
Having worked in Bahrain for the last 17 years, Leeladhar is basically from Baikampady and has been living in Mumbai from last several years.
Born to Late V D Mendon and Janaki Mendon, Leeladhar starting from a very early age, has engaged himself in serving the society and humanity through his multidimensional activities in undivided South Kanara, Bangalore, Mumbai and in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
A finance manager by profession, Leeladhar Baikampady has been living in the Kingdom of Bahrain from the past 16 years. He has been well-recognized as a youth activist, youth organizer, social & charity activist, writer, award winning stage artist, progressive thinker and a dynamic youth leader.
Academy founder secretary H Somashekhar, Mahesh Kumar T J, Vice president Karnataka state government workers union, Editor of Suma Saurabha M J Rao, and many dignitaries were present at the award ceremony.
