Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday May 12 said that all legal efforts are being made to provide political reservation for the Backward Classes in local bodies as elections are ahead.
Chief Minister held a meeting on Thursday May 12 with Law Minister J. C. Madhuswamy, and Advocate General to discuss the Supreme Court order on conducting elections for local bodies. He said that two orders of the Supreme Court on the issue are being studied, and added that a Commission has been set up to politically represent Backward Classes.
Bommai added that the Opposition Leader too has written a letter in this connection. All the aspects will be discussed with legal experts before arriving at a decision, he asserted.
