Bengaluru: The JDS state unit, which is facing an acute shortage of candidates, has decided to import two candidates from the Congress party. If sources in the Congress are to be believed, the party will field Pramod Madhwaraj from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency and B L Shankar from the Bengaluru North constituency.
“The JDS has already sent the B form to Pramod Madhwarj, who will contest on the party’s ticket from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru. The idea is to strengthen the party’s base in Udupi, where the party is very weak. The JDS has also approached B L Shankar. Through this, the party has weakened the Congress,” explained sources with the Congress party.
“There is no clarity as to why the JDS has demanded these two seats when it is aware of the fact that they have no candidate. Gowda is a master strategist. So, his ultimate aim is the weakening of the Congress party in the name of defeating the BJP,” he alleged.
“The issue has been brought to the notice of the party’s high command,” he added.
