Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a man stabbed his wife to death but not before locking his neighbours in their own homes on May 31.
According to police, 28-year-old Sabu alias Sabanna was married to 25-year-old Anusuja, four years ago. The couple hailed from Sedam in the Kalaburgi district.
They soon moved to Hullahalli where they found work at a cement factory. The two lived in a makeshift shed on the factory’s premises along with two other families who lived close-by.
On the night of May 30, the couple got into a fight after the husband came home drunk and he was overheard abusing the wife saying that she wasn’t able to conceive. The fight died down a few hours later and the neighbours assumed that things were normal. They were wrong however, when they woke up to Anusuja’s agonising screams at 2.30 AM on Thursday.
When the neighbours tried to rush to the aid of the wife, they realised they were locked in their homes from the outside. The husband is then said to have fled the scene of the crime at around 4 AM, after he had succeeded in killing his wife.
The police have said that the husband is presently absconding and assured that they would reveal the motive behind the murder, once Sabu was arrested. They also added that after postmortem was conducted on the wife’s body at the Victoria Hospital, it was handed over to her family.
