Minor steals govt employee’s car, lands in trouble

Bengaluru: A 14-year-old boy was detained by the police after he stole the keys of a car that belonged to the chairman of the Safai Karamchari Commission.

The boy later, went for a ride in the stolen vehicle and ended up ramming it into a wall and two other cars that were parked along a road in SR Nagar 4th Main on Saturday night.

No one was injured in the incident. Passers-by had a narrow escape when they saw the car zooming erratically down the road and jumped out of its way.

The police detained the boy and seized the car before summoning his father and informing the chairman of the incident.

The boy later told the police that he stole the keys which were with his father who works as a security guard at the Safai Karmachari Commission chairman’s house. The boy had little experience behind the wheel.

A case has been registered at SR Nagar police station.
