Mysuru: Packs of stray dogs are found everywhere and there seem to be very few hearts that care for them. Undoubtedly Mysuru Deputy Commissioner D Randeep has a heart of gold.
The proof of his humane side is the presence of four stray dogs in his bunglow in Mysuru. Well, that can simply pass off as the DC’s love for canine friends, but what is special about these four dogs is that they have been brought from Bijapur (Randeep’s previous station), after he took charge as the DC of Mysuru.
The tale of these four dogs is a heartfelt one. They had made the Bijapur DC’s bunglow premises their ‘home’. The canines had grown very attached to Randeep and his family members, who would always make it a point to feed them on time and even make time to play with them.
However, when it was time for Randeep to leave Bijapur and relocated to Mysuru, the canines remained behind. Within a few weeks, Randeep’s successor in Bijapur contacted him to let him know that his four dear ones have been missing him to the extent that they had grown sullen and passive, rejecting to eat even a morsel of food. Realising that there was a need to act instantly, Randeep contacted a courier service and made arrangements to get the foursome to Mysuru. Upon their arrival, he summoned veterinarian doctors to attend to the four dogs who had grown weak.
Today, the DC’s bunglow in Mysuru-‘Jalasannidhi’ is home to the four canine friends of D Randeep. The four are healthier now and are having a great time with their beloved master and his family. They pounce and jump on him, with sheer joy, every time he returns home from work.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Randeep said that back in Bijapur one of the dogs whom they affectionately call Lilly, used to come into the guard room and they would feed it. Soon after, she littered twice. She gave birth to twelve puppies in total, six in each litter. Most of the puppies were given up for adoption and three remained with them. Ever since then, the family has been caring for Lilly and her daughters (Brownee, Spotty and Chubby).
“We had left the canines in Bijapur assuming that they were well accustomed to Bijapur. But, we were wrong,” the DC said adding that despite his busy schedule, he makes it a point to spend at least 15 to 20 minutes with them everyday.
“They are a part of our family because they have shown us unconditional love and helped us become better human beings. We are happy that they are part of our family,” he said.
