Bengaluru: A tweet by senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily has caused ripples in the political circles and social media. In his tweet, Moily has criticised the process of selection of candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections.
“The INC needs to solve money in politics. We can’t afford to have road contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections”, the tweet read, taking a jibe at state PWD minister H C Mahadevappa and the role of money power in politics.
The same tweet appeared in son Harsha Moily’s page too.
Moily, unavailable for comment initially, later said, the twitter account has been hacked and he had no role in it.
Opposition BJP seeks answers
Launching an assault using the tweet, Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda asked “The tweet highlights the nexus between the minister and the contractor. Without carrying any works MLA Munirathna has billed Rs 1500 crores? Is this amount meant for party ticket/the party or for election expenses?”.
At the other end, MP Shobha Karandhlaje sought answer from Congress president Rahul Gandhi, since the original tweet was tagged to keep the latter aware of the unholy nexus.
“The state Chief minister behaves unethically on all fronts of his administration. Original Congress leaders feel the same and Veerappa’s Moily’s tweet is a sample of it”, she added.
