Bengaluru: Honnasandra Narasimhaiah Chandrashekar, also known as Mukhyamantri Chandru resigned from the Congress party.
He was recently selected as the cultural unit’s President.
However, Chandru stated in his resignation letter that he does not want to be in charge of the party’s cultural unit.
Chandru joined the Janata Party in 1985 and won Gauribidanur in the Assembly elections that same year. In 1998 and 2004, he changed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and became a member of the legislative council.
In 2012, Chandru was instrumental in getting the Kempegowda International Airport officials to agree to exhibit Kannada signboards and nameplates.
He was the Kannada Development Authority’s chairperson till 2013 when he quit to join the Indian National Congress in 2014.
