Bengaluru: After a video of Jaya Karnataka founder-president Muthappa Rai and his family performing pooja for weapons went viral, a notice was given to him by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) to present himself before them along with the weapons in the video. Rai, in response, appeared before the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Organised Crime Wing (OCW) on Saturday, October 20.
Defending himself, Rai explained that the weapons belonged to his security personnel, whom he had hired for his personal protection.
Following this revelation, police are now examining the gun license rules as his security personnel were issued gun licenses for self-defence purposes and not for Rai’s protection.
The police have said that appropriate action, including a revocation of the gun licenses, would be taken in the event that a violation of the gun license rules was found.
They also added that, while Rai had an explanation for the guns, he could not provide an adequate explanation for the other weapons that were on display as seen in the video.
