Bengaluru: A team led by Bommanahalli Crime Branch police inspector succeeded in nabbing a notorious vehicle lifter and recovered 51 two-wheelers valued at Rs 25 Lakh on April 22.
P Manohar (23), originally a resident of Petlakuntapalli in Andhra Pradesh, and presently residing at Naidu Layout in Hongasandra area of Bommanahalli ward is the accused.
The accused is understood to have involved in betting activities related to tele show “Big Boss” and attempted to please his lover by spending lavishly from the illegal money amassed through vehicle thefts. His weakness for betting and lavish life drew him into vehicle thefts, it is gathered.
With his arrest, police have solved several cases of vehicle lifting in the state and outside. Theft cases are pending against the accused in Hindupur and Kadri stations of Andhra Pradesh. Police also managed to solve 36 theft cases committed in different police station limits of the city and surrounding areas.
Police recovered 26 Hero Honda Splendour bikes, 19 Hero Honda Passion bikes, four Baja Activa bikes, 2 Bajaj Discover bikes and 1 Honda Activa scooter, all valued at Rs 25 Lakhs.
State and city police top brass commended the crime branch team led by Inspector B S Manjunath for the prize catch and recovery of stolen vehicles.
