Bengaluru: This Children’s Day, Skola Toys will be spreading smiles across the faces of scores of underprivileged children. For every toy that it sells in November, Skola Toys will contribute part of its revenue to gift learning toys for these children. This noble initiative is an extension of Skola Toys’ larger vision to have an India where every child is able to get a strong practical foundation in areas such as numerals, dexterity and cognition, irrespective of their financial background.

Mridula Shridhar, cofounder of Skola Toys said, “India has the world’s largest child population at 400 Million. But less than half of India’s children go to school. Uneducated & unskilled, these underprivileged children have limited access to good opportunities. But learning is a great equaliser. If an underprivileged child gets access to learning opportunities early in life it will instill basic skill sets, giving them a better chance at having a brighter future.”

Skola Toys is India’s first range of toys, designed with learning at its core. The range is a distillate of over two decades of global research & development in toy design & manufacture, child psychology & child education. Skola Toys are self-correcting & self-paced wooden toys that work together to help children aged 2-7, learn a variety of concepts in the areas of numerals, language, dexterity, environment, culture and cognition through play.

Skola Toys was established in 2017 and is the brainchild of Mridula Shridhar, VK Manikandan & Nitish Agrawal – all alumni of IIM Kolkata. Skola Toys is a sister concern of Kido Enterprises, which has conceptualised, designed & manufactured thought provoking educational materials for over 40,000 children in 10,000 schools in India, the Middle East & the USA over the last 25 years.

About Concept:

Skola Toys has been designed, keeping experiential & sequential learning principles in mind, backed by child psychologists, child experts & educationists, across the globe. The Skola Toys range is crafted in the form of ‘lands’ and ‘journeys’. A journey is a collection of toys, that when played with sequentially inculcates a specific skill among children. Land on the other hand, is a collection of journeys that caters to a broader area of skills. For example, in the land of language- alphabet & words are journeys and they will work together to strengthen the child’s language skills. All journeys are incrementally challenging and developmentally appropriate. At the moment, the range has 9 Journeys and 6 Lands.
