Bengaluru: The High Court has directed the department of animal husbandry to open goshalas (cow shelters) in 156 drought-hit taluks of the state immediately.
Deposing the two separate Public Interest Litigations (PIL) published in this regard, a divisional bench of the High Court directed the department to take up the publicity campaign in this regard and give the responsibility to local the Tahsildars and Deputy Commissioners.
It can be recalled that in Karnataka, the state government had announced 156 taluks as drought-hit, following poor rainfall and non-availability of drinking water.
