Bengaluru: The paediatric Covid testing levels in Karnataka still remained low at 3 per cent, which shows no improvement from when the data was last reviewed in September 15.
According to reports, experts claim that the Covid cases in children may go undetected due to low number of samples being taken. The State Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) had expressed their concern over the low rate of sampling and said that the third wave many start in October or November.
An official from the health department pointed out that there are few challenges like hesitancy for taking the RT-PCR test among children due to the discomfort caused when throat swabs are taken.
Meanwhile it can be noted that Karnataka government has decided to allow schools to function in full capacity from class 6 to 12, five days a week, from October 1.
