Bengaluru: Following the protest launched by the parents group under the banner ‘Voice Against Private School Fee Hike in Bengaluru’, private CBSE and ICSE schools in the city have decided to cap the annual fee hike at 10%. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the school managements held recently.

According to the sources, a decision in this regard was taken on April 7 at a special Annual General Meeting (AGM) of combined association of ICSE and CBSE schools in Karnataka.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohan Manghnani, President of ICSE Schools Association and Chairman of New Horizon Educational Institution.

According to a statement issued by Mr. Mohan, this decision will bring the much-needed relief to the parents. “We are sensitive to the needs of parents. I am happy that the schools were univocal in their stand, not to increase the fee structure at the whims and fancies of the managements. The latest decision will put a cap on all such moves and it will also bring in a sense of relief among parents”, says Dr Mohan Manghnani.

He said the association dwelt upon the oft-repeated concerns of parents with the increase in fee structure being the foremost one. “At the end of the day, we want the parents to send their children with pride to our schools. We do not want them to undergo any undue pressure. Education has to be an inspiring journey to be undertaken by teachers, students and parents”, adds Dr. Mohan.
