Bengaluru: After scoring a huge 4-1 win in the by-polls held on November 3, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the results serve as a boost to the Congress-Janata Dal (S) partnership.

The Congress-JD(S) alliance won the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls in Mandya, Ballari, Ramanagara and Jamakhandi, while the BJP won in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-polls. In response to this, HDK said that though they lost in Shivamogga, they had a moral victory. He then thanked the people of the state for the victory and congratulated both the Congress and JD(S) workers for the hard work they put into the campaign.

Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that even though they termed the Congress-JD(S) coalition an ‘unholy alliance’, they still won by huge margins in four seats and lost by a small margin in the fifth one.

He also said that the result was a sign that the public was supporting the government’s ‘pro-people programmes’ and wanted them to continue working in the same direction. He added that the government would continue to do so.

He reiterated that the Congress and JD(S) would continue their partnership into the upcoming Lok Sabha elections also, saying that it was already decided and that they would win all the 28 LS seats in the state.

Meanwhile, the BJP has said that it would examine and analyse the results to figure out how they lost in the by-polls.
