Bengaluru — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the city today to roll out a series of major transport projects aimed at transforming Bengaluru’s connectivity. His itinerary includes the launch of three Vande Bharat Express services, the inauguration of the Yellow Line of the metro, the foundation stone laying for Phase-3 of the network, and a public address.

Posting on X ahead of his arrival, the PM said, “Tomorrow, August 10, I look forward to being with the people of Bengaluru… Three Vande Bharat Express trains will be flagged off… The Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro will be inaugurated… The foundation stone for the third phase of Bengaluru Metro will be laid.”

At 11 a.m., Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat Express routes from KSR Bengaluru Railway StationBengaluru–Belagavi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune. With these additions, the nationwide Vande Bharat count will rise to 150, including 11 for Karnataka.

Following this, he will inaugurate the 19-km Yellow Line of the metro connecting RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra via 16 stations, linking key residential, commercial, and industrial zones. Built at a cost of ₹7,160 crore under Phase-2, it expands Bengaluru’s operational metro network to over 96 km. Modi will also travel on the metro from RV Road to Electronic City, a major IT hub.

He will then lay the foundation for the ₹15,610 crore Phase-3, adding 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 stations to further strengthen public transport.

At 1 p.m., the PM will address a public gathering, reiterating the government’s commitment to modern infrastructure and improved urban mobility.
