Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has informed on Saturday February 12 that he will convene a separate meeting with experts to discuss how the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota can be kept in the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections.

“We will discuss the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision to provide reservations only to SC/STs and not to OBCs in the State. The polls will be conducted in such a way that reservations for OBCs are not disturbed,” he said.

According to sources, the Chief Minister will meet with ministers from the backward classes, department officials, and legal experts.

Aspirants in the Zilla and Taluk panchayat polls, particularly OBCs, have been encouraged by CM Bommai’s assurance.
