Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, the prime accused in a sex videos case, was remanded to the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan and Magistrate (ACMM) court on Wednesday. The court’s order grants custody of Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, to the SIT until June 18. Previously, he had been placed in judicial custody until June 24 and was transferred to Bengaluru Central Prison on June 10.
Acting on the SIT’s request, jail authorities presented Prajwal before the court in connection with a rape case filed under FIR Number 2/2024. The court acceded to the SIT’s plea. During his incarceration in the central prison, Prajwal Revanna was assigned undertrial number 5664 and housed in a quarantine cell, receiving meals according to the jail’s menu.
Earlier, the court had dismissed his request for accommodation in the SIT facility. Prajwal faces charges under various sections of the IPC including 376(2)(N) (repeated rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354(A)(1) (sexual harassment), 354(B) (use of force on a woman), 354(C) (voyeurism), and under sections of the Information Technology Act.
