Bengaluru: Sri Ram Sena Chief Pramod Muthalik, on June 16, distanced himself and the organisation from the Parashuram Waghmare, an accused in the Gowri Lankesh murder case.
Controversial pictures of Muthalik with Parashuram Waghmare were widely circulated on social media recently, raising suspicions that Sri Ram Sena may also have been involved in the sensational murder of the journalist-activist Gowri Lankesh in Bengaluru.
News agency ANI tweeted the statement by the Sena chief that read, “Sri Ram Sena has no connection with Parashuram. I don’t know what has he said before SIT. There are so many people who click photos with me, just by clicking photos someone won’t become our worker: Pramod Muthalik, Sri Ram Sena Chief on #GauriLankesh murder accused Parashuram Waghmore.”

Meanwhile, reports said that 26-year-old Parashuaram Waghmare has confessed to killing Gowri Lankesh with the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Waghmare, who was picked by the Special Investigation Team from Vijayapura early this week, has also said that he was told to shoot Lankesh down to save the religion and he did so without knowing the identity of the target.
