Bengaluru: Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Hubballi City following communal tension which broke out late at the night on Saturday April 16.
According to the sources, the police used tear gas and lathi-charge to disperse the mob which held a protest in front of a police station.
It all started with an ‘objectionable WhatsApp status’ that was shared by youth. Demanding action against him, the protest started. As a few miscreants were involved in pelting stones at police vehicles, two-wheelers and buses, the police used tear gas and lathi-charge. Four policemen including one inspector were injured in the incident.
Now, the situation is under control. Section 144 has been imposed across the City to maintain the law and order situation.
Senior police officers from Bengaluru rushed to the City to monitor the situation.
