Bengaluru: The Town Hall in Bengaluru is one of the most prominent choices for people to raise their voices on any cause. But now, it has become a costly affair. The police department has decided to fix a security bond of up to Rs 10 lakhs, payable by those organisers who want to hold a protest here.
This security bond will be realised if the protests turn violent.
The amount of the security bond will change from one protest to another, depending on the severity of the protest and its cause and has been decided by the local DCPs.
According to sources, the police recently asked the pro-CAA rally organisers to furnish a security bond of Rs 10 lakhs.
The decision is likely to lead to a public debate as the Town Hall is the favoured place for holding anti-establishment protests.
