Pvt pharma colleges lose petition in HC against GO on seat allotment

Bengaluru: The state High Court (HC) upheld the earlier state Government Order (GO) on seat allotment in private pharmacy colleges of the state for degree and post graduate courses.

It may be recalled that the government in its order in June had ordered equal share of seats (50: 50 basis) in private pharmacy colleges for both degree and post graduate courses to benefit larger sections of the society.

Private institutions had filed a writ petition in the high court challenging the government decision. The court examined the petition by seven applicants (pvt management colleges) and ruled in favour of the government in its verdict.

The Karnataka examination will take care of admissions for the academic year 2017-18 till further orders to implement the HC order to allot seats on 50: 50 ratios in all private management pharmacy colleges of the state.

The HC verdict has given a huge relief to hundreds of students from various cross sections of the society to gain entry into pharma colleges.
