Bengaluru: The sessions court has granted conditional bail to Raghaveshwara seer, pontiff of Shivamogga district-based Ramachandrapura Mutt in connection with a rape case filed by a Yakshagana artist here, on Wednesday.
The seer who faced arrest after a case was filed at Girinagar police was relieved after bail was granted. “The case was filed after several years of the incident taking place. The court had granted the seer bail in the first rape case, so in this case too, he should be given anticipatory bail,” argued the lawyer who is representing the seer in the court of law.
The court has granted a conditional bail and has asked the seer not to destroy evidences and threaten the victim. Other 6 accused that supported the seer were also granted bail.
It may be recalled that the victim, on August 29, filed a complaint at the Girinagar police station, that she was sexually harassed by the seer and had raped her in 2006, when she was staying in the math’s hostel in Hosanagar.
