Bengaluru greeted its residents with cloudy skies in various areas this Friday morning, hinting at the imminent end of a prolonged dry spell lasting over four months. This change comes as a welcome relief from the scorching heat and high temperatures that have been plaguing the “Garden City,” prompting households to rely heavily on air conditioners and coolers.

According to the latest weather update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions in Karnataka are poised to experience rainfall in the upcoming days, starting from Friday and extending through Tuesday (April 19 – 23). Among the areas slated to receive rainfall are Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Vijayanagara, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, and Ballari districts.

Additionally, the IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for isolated areas in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga districts of South Interior Karnataka (SIK) for Friday. The bulletin also forecasts hot and humid conditions in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts until April 19.

Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 Kmph, are predicted in isolated areas across Karnataka until April 21.

As for Bengaluru city specifically, the IMD predicts a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers expected towards the evening or night over the next 48 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 37 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
