The 2025 IPL season is poised to be thrilling, especially with the return of the mega auction after a gap since 2022. The auction will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Among the most anticipated teams is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who are determined to build a winning squad that can finally end their 17-year-long IPL title drought.
RCB has retained just three players this year and has a whopping Rs 83 crore remaining in their auction budget, the second-largest after Punjab Kings. Among the retained players, Virat Kohli stands out, having been kept for Rs 21 crore, becoming the first Indian player to cross the Rs 20 crore mark in IPL history. Reports suggest that Kohli might be handed the captaincy next season, further strengthening his role in the team.
Alongside Kohli, RCB has also secured the services of Rajat Patidar for Rs 11 crore and uncapped bowler Yash Dayal for Rs 4 crore. There is speculation that the team might look to bring back KL Rahul, which could also involve him taking over the captaincy. Furthermore, RCB is likely to target a spin specialist, with possible acquisitions including Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar, both of whom could add depth to their bowling attack.
It will be fascinating to see who RCB targets as they look to build a squad capable of securing their first-ever IPL trophy.
