Bengaluru: A realtor facing a CCB probe on charges of cheating investors tried to stab himself at the CCB office with a pair of scissors, here on Thursday.

The accused Yousuf Sharif was brought for questioning to the CCB office when the incident took place. He is the owner of Umrah Developers, having an office at Richmond Road. Police raided his house and office and seized property and documents worth crores of rupees.

Shariff had sold seven acres of government land on the outskirts of Bengaluru city to Indraprastha Shelters Private Limited by using forged documents, in 2011. It was alleged that he had made another set of forged documents on the same property in January 2019 and mortgaged it to another realtor. Indraprastha Shelters realised that they were duped and filed a police complaint.

When the police started investigating the case it was revealed that Shariff had done many such land dealings with forged documents, cheating property buyers. The case was later referred to the CCB.

When he was arrested and brought to CCB office, Shariff threatened the CCB officials saying that he would use his Rs 500 crores fortune and get them suspended, strip their uniform and shut down the CCB. It was at this moment he grabbed a pair of scissors from a table and tried to stab himself and also had some roughing up with the CCB officials.

He was later produced before a court and requested permission to interrogate him under their custody.

The CCB registered another case against him for trying to assault them in Cottonpet police station.
