Bengaluru: The central government’s decision to increase the traffic fine amount to make the travelling safe resulted in a sudden jump in the BMTC revenue. In the last 15 days, the average operational revenue of the corporation has increased by over Rs 3 crores compared to the previous month.
According to an estimation, starting from September 1, the average ridership in the BMTC buses increased by 2.5 lakh passengers per day. This resulted in additional revenue of Rs.3.41 crores between September 1 and 15.
BMTC Managing Director C Shikha confirmed that there was a slight increase in the BMTC ridership. “It results in the corporation revenue,” she said.
