Bengaluru: The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC) is organising National SC-ST Hub Regional conclave at Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) auditorium in Bengaluru on Thursday. Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya will be the chief guest.

“We are expecting more than 300 entrepreneurs from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities to attend the conclave. The objective of the event is to create awareness among the entrepreneurs from SC/ST communities,’’ Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Director Dr P.G.S. Rao said.

The National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2016 with an aim to achieve the mandate under the Public Procurement Policy. For this programme to become successful and realize its intended objectives, collaborative efforts between NSSH and all Public representatives are extremely important and shall play a pivotal role.

The policy is originally linked to the Public Procurement Policy, 2012 of the Government of Indian which states that 20 per cent of total procurement of goods and services by Central ministries, departments, and Central Public Sector Enterprises shall be made from MSEs and 20 per cent of such procurement (4 per cent of total) from MSEs shall be made from SC/ST owned MSEs.

“The procurement from MSEs is below 15 per cent as against the mandated 20 per cent by the government enterprises. The procurement rate is 0.4 per cent from the MSEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs as against 4 per cent,’’ Dr Rao said.

He said arrangements have been made to have Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Udyog Adhaar Registration counters at the event.
