Bengaluru: After the BJP called for a trust vote in the state Assembly on Monday, the Congress Legislature Party has once again convened a meeting of its members, according to a report by ANI.
It can be recalled that BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, on Saturday, called for a trust vote and asked Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to prove his government’s majority in the state Assembly on Monday. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah told ANI that the meeting would be held before the Assembly session on Monday.
The political turmoil in the state was kick-started by the mass resignation of 11 dissident Congress and JD(S) MLAs last week. Since then, there have been repeated attempts by the coalition government to retain their MLAs within their folds and stop them from joining the BJP. Several of the dissident MLAs are currently housed in a hotel in Mumbai.
