Siddaramaiah on Thursday submitted a comprehensive memorandum to Narendra Modi, urging immediate action on key infrastructure projects, pending fund releases and policy approvals important for Karnataka’s development.
The Chief Minister personally handed over the memorandum after welcoming the Prime Minister at HAL Airport.
Funds and dues sought
Siddaramaiah reportedly highlighted pending dues under multiple schemes, including ₹17,554 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission.
He also sought release of:
- ₹2,860 crore grants for gram panchayats
- ₹5,495 crore revenue deficit grants
- ₹6,000 crore special grant for Bengaluru infrastructure
Push for transport projects
The memorandum requested faster support for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and inclusion of the Bengaluru-Mysuru route in the proposed high-speed rail corridor.
He also sought progress on the long-pending railway coach factory in Kolar and a Bengaluru-Mumbai high-speed rail project.
Water and irrigation demands
The CM asked the Centre to expedite the Mekedatu Drinking Water Project, release ₹5,300 crore for the Upper Bhadra Project and grant it national project status.
He also raised the Mahadayi river dispute and Krishna water tribunal matters.
Regional growth and healthcare
Siddaramaiah sought ₹5,000 crore annually for development of Kalyana Karnataka Region under Article 371(J).
He also requested early approval for an AIIMS in Raichur and clearances for the 2000 MW Sharavathy Pumped Storage Project.
Message to Centre
The memorandum underlined Karnataka’s strong contribution to India’s economy while urging fair and timely support from the Union government.
