Bengaluru: During the state Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening it was decided to reduce the number of government holidays. A cabinet sub-committee has been formed to submit a report in this regard.
According to sources, the committee will be headed by Minister of Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Krishna Byre Gowda. The committee will hold a meeting with various stakeholders, including the general public and make a recommendation.
The sources also said that presently, a government employee gets more than 100 holidays, creating a lot of problems for the administration as there are a lot of delays in the delivery of public services. “To make a scientific recommendation, the state government has formed this committee. The committee is expected to submit its report by February end,” informed an officer.
Sources also say that the committee is planning to hold a discussion with human resource experts from the private sector regarding manpower management. “It will give a new insight into managing the holidays for the government sector.
