Udupi: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists have been protesting for the past 23 days, seeking exemption of vehicles from the Padubidri Panchayat from toll payment on NH 66, at the Hejamady toll plaza. Taking things to a new level, on Wednesday, January 30, three members of the KRV painted their bodies black and staged a semi-nude protest.
The KRV (Praveen Shetty Wing) Udupi district president Ansar Ahmed, taluk unit president Sayyed Nizamuddin and Asif were the three men who held the novel protest. To top it off, they placed a ‘beggar’s bowl’ in front of them.
As they had been protesting for the last 23 days, they switched things up and staged this unique protest against the apathy of the district administration towards the cause. District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai visited the spot and pledged his support to the protest.
